The Urology Foundation Robotic Fellowship Award

Since 2011 The Urology Foundation (TUF) has been in the vanguard of promoting robotic surgery training among urologists, enabling them to gain sufficient practise to ensure proficiency and safety, and to help speed up the ability to offer robotic surgery to patients in need. The training has had a positive impact and TUF is pleased to have helped develop successful robotic programmes across the UK.

In addition to its support for TUF Robotic Centres of Training, TUF is now seeking to make three awards,
“The Urology Foundation Robotic Fellowship Award”. Worth £10,000 each, this funding would provide additional support for Robotic Surgery Fellows to travel to conferences, take part in research and to publish research and/or outcomes data.

Applications are sought from trainees undertaking urology robotic fellowship as a joint application with a robotic centre within the UK.

Applicants would be appointed to a robotic fellowship in the UK due to start in October 2017. Applications should consist of the names and brief CVs of the Fellow, the unit’s key Robotic Urology team, their areas of specialism and a statement consisting of no more than four sides of A4, setting out:

  • How they would use TUF funding, particularly demonstrating the added value it can bring
  • Their clear research objectives during their Fellowship
  • The annual number and type of urological cases the unit performs robotically
  • The type of support and opportunities the unit can offer a TUF Fellow
  • The ambitions of the Fellow regarding their future in robotic urological surgery in the UK

Applications will be considered by The Urology Foundation’s Science & Education Committee and should be emailed to:
